Nusail Engineering Consultancy (NEC), UK, was engaged by Environmental Horizons to execute a bathymetric survey in Doga, KSA. The goal of this survey was to produce accurate and comprehensive depth data of the specified water body, integral for the planning and execution of client projects in the area.

Scope of Services: The service encompassed conducting a bathymetric survey within a predetermined area near Doga. The survey aimed to capture the depth and contour of the water body to generate a detailed bathymetric map.

Methodology: NEC utilized a suite of modern equipment and software, including an M3 Sonar depth echosounder, Hemisphere 113 IMU, Aquaread Ap2000 for Velocity Profiler, and Leica GPS for accurate positioning, with Hypack & Hysweep software for data acquisition and processing.

• Hydrographic Survey Procedure: NEC carried out the bathymetric survey using the UTM-WGS 84 coordinate system. The survey adhered to the International Hydrographic Organization's (IHO) standards for hydrographic surveys.
• Vertical Reference: The vertical reference was based on the Saudi Tide Table, with AlQunfuda as the primary station.
• Data Acquisition: The NEC team used state-of-the-art Multi Beam Echo Sounders (MBES) for data acquisition and ran the survey lines in a manner ensuring full seafloor coverage.

Challenges and Solutions: The survey was completed successfully under suitable general weather conditions and low tide. In the event of data loss or corruption, NEC immediately resurveyed the affected areas once the equipment was fully operational.

Outcomes: During the two-day survey period in January 2021, NEC executed the work professionally and in line with sound surveying practices. The data coverage was continuous and complete, providing valuable data for Environmental Horizons' projects.
